Richard M. Strickland

Richard M. Strickland (B.S., Biological Oceanography, University of Michigan; M.S., Biological Oceanography, University of Washington) is a retired oceanographer, scientific writer, and editor with decades of experience translating complex marine science for technical and public audiences. He served as a researcher in the University of Washington School of Fisheries and later as science writer and press officer for the Washington Sea Grant Program. Mr. Strickland is the author of books on the oceanography of Puget Sound and the Washington coast, as well as numerous technical reports and articles on marine fisheries and the potential impacts of climate change. He served as writer and editor for the British Columbia–Washington Marine Science Panel, which advised provincial and state governments on pollution issues and research in the Strait of Georgia and Puget Sound. In addition to authoring scientific publications, Mr. Strickland has edited a wide range of technical documents and conference proceedings, including Puget Sound Research ’98 and Fisheries, Habitat, and Pollution ’97, helping make complex scientific information accessible to researchers, policymakers, and the public.
